Zoning Board of Adjustments
The purpose of the Zoning Board of Adjustments is for the purpose, in appropriate cases and subject to appropriate conditions and safeguards, to make special exceptions to Ordinance O-12-01 that are consistent with the general purpose and intent of this Ordinance. The Board shall be composed of members who are resident citizens, taxpayers and qualified voters of the City of Athens.
The Zoning Board of Adjustments shall consist of five (5) regular members, who shall be appointed by a simple majority vote of the City Council, in accordance with Sections 211.008 through 211.011 of the Texas Local Government Code, as amended.
Four (4) members of the Board shall constitute a quorum for the conduct of business. All cases to be heard by the Board shall always be heard by at least seventy-five percent (75%) of the members, which constitutes four (4) members.
The Zoning Board of Adjustments shall have the authority, subject to the standards established in Sections 211.008 through 211.011 of the Texas Local Government Code and those established herein, to exercise powers and to perform duties including the followig:
The Zoning Board of Adjustments meet the second (2nd) Tuesday of each month at 4:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the City Hall Annex, 501 North Pinkerton St., Athens, Texas.
