City Council - To provide leadership, to set policy and make decisions based upon facts and what is in the best interest of the entire City.

The City of Athens Charter provides for a Council-Manager form of local government. The Mayor and City Council Members are elected from the City at large for terms of two (2) years.
The Athens City Council meets in Regular Session on the second (2nd) and fourth (4th) Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Derek D. Daniels Conference Room of the Athens Partnership Center, 201 W. Corsicana St., Athens, Texas.
The Rules of Procedure shall be followed when requesting to appear before the City Council.
